Please
give me two minutes of your time to tell you about Nickel Technologies
Inc.
While
working for another company I had need for Electroless Nickel plating on
aluminum valve spools. Parts were sent to several job shops and the experience
was not good: poor quality, scrap, and lost parts. With the help of Witco
Chemical I set up a plating line in house. After three years of plating
and almost no problems, I asked my chemical rep why I was able to do this
when job shops that had tried to do work for us had failed. His reply: Most shops do many different kinds of plating. This makes it difficult
for them to focus on electroless nickel which is unlike electroplating. I decided to start my own business.
Nickel
Technologies opened for business October 1983. The decision was to do only
one thing and do it well. Electroless Nickel is our only Business. We are
able to electroless nickel plate most metals including some zinc die-castings.
Plating on aluminum is our specialty as it was our beginning. The plating
bath is continuously analyzed and additions are made instantly again using
computer control, also process temperatures are controlled +/- 2 degrees
F. As new parts arrive each is carefully evaluated and a process cycle
is developed to give the best possible results with the least opportunity
for failure. This cycle specifies for each step in the process: solution
type and concentration, temperature, and minutes and seconds of immersion
time in solution. There are four counter flowing water rinses between each
chemical process. Once this cycle is established all future shipments are
handled using the same process cycle. This assures that you will receive
the same quality each shipment. Coating thickness is controlled plus or
minus .000050 of an inch. This control allows us to plate parts to finish
dimensions without the need for post plate machining. We have capacity
for both production runs and prototype quantities. Parts range in size
from 6 x 10 x 20 castings and weights of 50 pounds, to
micro screws that take 200 pieces to fill a teaspoon.
